Nintendo makes massive profit in Q2 - Sony reports HEAVY losses

 Today is a great day to be a Nintendo fan. Well to be honest, every day is, but today is extra special! Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony today published their profits for Q2 2006, and for Nintendo, it's all good news. Although the first Wiis won't hit the world for another 3 weeks, Nintendo are already safely in the green. Today, they reported a 54.4 billion Yen (£242.7 MILLION) profit for the first half of the fiscal year which ended on the 30th of September. This figure is a 48% increase from the 36.63 billion Yen (£163.4 million) that Nintendo gained in the same time period last year. To true Nintendo fans, the reason for the profit is strikingly obvious. Nintendo also announced that it has sold over 10 MILLION DSes this year alone, and the introduction of the DS Lite has helped the sales figures no end. So far, Nintendo has sold 26.82 million DSes and DS Lites since their launch back in late 2004. Game sales have also helped Nintendo greatly. NEW Super Mario bros has sold 6.76 million units worldwide, and Brain Training has sold 8.51 million units - with 4.59 million being sold in this fiscal period.
So everything is good for Nintendo. But what of Sony and Microsoft?
Well, Microsoft's Game Division is near to breaking even for the first time in a while, but they are still in debt.
But the news that will make you happy is the news that Sony's Game Division is completely and utterly in debt! The company announced that the Game Division are 43.5 billion Yen(thats £194 MILLION) in the red. The company as a whole is only just making a profit because of this.
