Each game will receive a brief synopsis of the storyline and then will be previewed/reviewed by a variety of people/companies. At the moment I will be doing a preview along with the new look Nintendo The Official Magazine (taken from the magazine), GAME stores and Nintendo of Europe (rating will be taken from the current opinion section on the NoE game page. This may or may not reflect how good the game is). Over the coming weeks and months, I will add more people and companies who will review the games. But you can help! If you wish to review the games of the week, please leave your username and e-mail address at the bottom of this page and I will contact you with instructions of what to do or you can e-mail me at mailmrnintendo@gmail.com. This week has more games than last week, which are: Megaman Battle Network 6: Cybeast Gregar/Falzar Monopoly/Boggle/Yahtzee/Battleship Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop Nintendogs: Dalmatian and Friends ATV Quad Frenzy Monster Trucks DS CLICK READ MORE TO READ ABOUT THIS WEEK’S GAME SELECTION!
Megaman Battle Network 6: Cybeast Gregar/Falzar GBA 16/6/06 The popular net battle series reaches a dramatic climax as familiar heroes, Lan and Mega Man, find themselves on unfamiliar terrain both in the real and cyber worlds. In Mega Man Battle Network 6, Lan’s father has received a job transfer and the family moves to Cyber City, a town known for conducting various technological experiments. Lan will meet new people and build new friendships in the real world while Mega Man befriends helpful Navis and encounters dangerous new enemies on the virtual plane. In addition to the shifting story, new features change up the gameplay. A new "Cross System" allows Mega Man to utilize the special power of allies in battle. While a Cross is equipped, Mega Man can also Beast Out, combining the forces of these two systems to maximize the power of the Crosses even further. MY VIEW: There are two versions for this game, much like Pokemon games, but because they are similar, they will be previewed together. For a GBA game, the graphics look very good. It also works very well as a turn based game, but completely random battles make this game hard to get into. 67% Nintendo: The Official Magazine: If you like Megaman’s action games, this might not be for you – it’s for Battle Network fans after more of the slick, turn-based adventuring. Still, why change for the sake of it? 71% Nintendo of Europe: N/A GAME: Gregar, an ancient creature embodying the form of a vicious wolf, has been awakened and unleashed on the Internet. This is the mightiest challenge Lan and Mega Man have ever faced. Can you intervene in time to stop him? Falzar, an ancient creature embodying the form of a ferocious bird, has been awakened and unleashed on the Internet. This is the mightiest challenge Lan and Mega Man have ever faced. Can you intervene in time to stop him? Average Rating: 69% Monopoly/Boggle/Yahtzee/Battleship DS 16/6/06 This game collection for the Nintendo DS includes the classic Hasbro board games Monopoly, Boggle, Yahtzee, and Battleship. MY VIEW: Well, this is made for the DS, but it seems they didn’t realise this feature too well. The possibilities are endless. Wi-Fi games, inventive touch screen use, but no. The touch screen is used to roll the dice and for menus. This eems like a GBA game, with a few extras thrown in. The graphics are GBA too. 23% Nintendo: The Official Magazine: N/A Nintendo of Europe: N/A GAME: N/A Average Rating: 23% Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop DS 16/6/06 This DS simulation title has you and your pet Tamagotchi open a store. You can select from three different Tamagotchi types and give your new little friend a name. The game includes a variety of shop types, including a bakery and a dentist. The DS's special features come into play quite clearly when you choose to open up a dentist office. The top screen shows the reception area. You start off by accepting patients and listing to their troubles. Then, it's time for you to work your dentistry. You clear cavities and other irregularities on the bottom screen by polishing your patient's teeth with the stylus. Your patients will give you money, so its in your best interest to serve as many patients as possible by being quick in your work. Your goal, be it a dentist or some other shop owner, is to attract customers, earn money, and make your shop grow. MY VIEW: This must be a joke is most people’s first thought when they see this. Didn’t Tamagotchi die about 3 years ago? But no, it’s back, and worse than ever. This game sees you doing none of the things that you used to do, rather you own a shop (yes, shop) and have to look after your customers. Reasonable graphics though and at least it uses the touch screen innovatively. 21% Nintendo: The Official Magazine: The whole game is like 11 of WarioWare’s simplest mini-games, repeated hundreds of times. It looks quirky but it’s as tedious as working on a factory line and equally as mindless. 39% Nintendo of Europe: N/A GAME: A shopping simulation set in the world of Tamagotchi and developed exclusively for the Nintendo DS. In the game, players open specialty shops, and develop their businesses by servicing customers through mini games that utilize the Nintendo DS's touch-screen functionality. Scheduled for release this winter, Tamagotchi: Corner Shop features a colorful, hand-drawn visual style, popular Tamagotchi characters, and a variety of different shops. In Tamagotchi: Corner Shop, players help Mametchi, Memetchi or Kuchipatchi set up a shop, with the ultimate goal of creating a "royal" shop that is a favorite of Princess Tamako. Players can select from a variety of different stores, including a bakery, beauty salon, dentist's office, flower shop, and more. Once the shop is open, players will help their customers by completing mini games with the Nintendo DS stylus. Players apply makeup, treat cavities, decorate cakes and complete many other shop-specific tasks to earn Gs, the Tamagotchi money unit, and progress towards "royal" shop status! Shop interiors can be customized, and cute Tamagotchi characters will make appearances throughout the game. Average Rating: 30% THIS WEEK’S GAME OF THE WEEK IS… Nintendogs: Dalmation and Friends DS 16/6/06 This DS simulation title has you and your pet Tamagotchi open a store. MY VIEW: The game that has taken the world by storm releases its fourth breed with the elusive Dalmatian. To be honest, it’s pointless me explaining about this game because it’s the same as the others (just with new breeds) and you all know about it anyway. Great usage of the DS and nothing can emulate it. 89% Nintendo: The Official Magazine: Choose your puppy and encourage him to be the best doggy he can be. Feed him, take him for walks… you won’t be able to go a day without seeing how he’s getting on. 92% Nintendo of Europe: Put a puppy inside your Nintendo DS! Pick a dog from a wide range of the most popular breeds, then care for and train it using the Touch Screen and microphone. Pet the pup and play with more than 100 items like tennis balls, flying discs and even clothing accessories, and teach it to do tricks by creating your own personalised voice commands.
Train your pups well and compete in obedience and agility trials. Win these competitions to earn cash, which you can use to buy supplies and even more dogs to keep your first puppy company. Walk puppies around the town to meet neighbourhood dogs or interact wirelessly with friends’ Nintendogs using the innovative Bark Mode, which senses another Nintendog nearby when your DS is in Sleep Mode.
Nintendogs is available in four different versions: each containing a different selection of six dogs to choose from at the start. By being a good owner and/or meeting up with friends' Nintendogs in Bark Mode, you can unlock more breeds, up to a total of 20 different dogs!
Dalmatian & Friends Includes Dalmatian (hard to unlock in previous versions), Boxer, German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Yorkshire Terrier, Beagle. 90% GAME: Once the players have bought their dog, they have to take full care; i.e. feed them, wash them, take them out for walks in the neighborhood, play with them, ad cuddle them. Through the built-in DS microphone, players can also each their dogs voice command-lead tricks – from the classic ’sit’ to the more advanced ‘backflip’. Once players have trained their puppy up, they can enroll their dog into competitions to prove their talent and earn prize money. There are three different type of competition: an obedience trial, a Frisbee-catching contest, and an obstacle course (against time). With the competition earnings, the player can buy food, toys, and accessories for their dog. It is possible to buy and own up to three puppies at any single time. Average Rating: 90.333% ATV Quad Frenzy DS 16/6/06 Choose from six different styles of ATVs, each with different stats and capabilities then chase your opponents and take the lead in over 25 unique environments. Race across five different game modes: Practice, Quick Race, Championship Race Circuit, Championship Style Circuit and a Head-to-Head mode. Upgrade your quad between races with the money you earn from winning and take a friend on head-to-head via the wireless game link. The game features eight musical tracks to add to the racing excitement and m ultiple functionality for the touch screen display, including an overhead map, stunt selector, speedometer and other features. MY VIEW: Not the greatest of games, but it’s there so I have to preview it. Well, it’s a racing game, and that’s about it. The touch screen may as well be non-exsistent as it does nothing other than display a speedometer. The graphics look a bit blocky too. 32% Nintendo: The Official Magazine: N/A Nintendo of Europe: N/A GAME: With huge air, blistering speed and in-your-face stunts, ATV Quad Frenzy is ready to set your Nintendo DS on fire! With over 25 different tracks, competitors ready to leave you in the dust and vehicle upgrades, you get an ATV experience unlike any other for a hand held system. Average Rating: 32% Monster Trucks DS DS 16/6/06 Nintendo DS racing game from Skyworks Technologies and Majesco. Jump behind the wheel of your favorite monster truck and race on 25 different all-terrain tracks in five different environments. Master eight different monster rides, each with different starting attributes. As you complete challenges, you can upgrade your monster trucks in the performance shops between races with the cash you earn by winning the races. Tear-up the tracks and put it all on the line with your friends via a four-person multiplayer mode. MY VIEW: There must be a theme of strange racing games for this week. Basically the same as the one above. 31% Nintendo: The Official Magazine: N/A Nintendo of Europe: N/A GAME: With huge air, blistering speed and in-your-face stunts, ATV Quad Frenzy is ready to set your Nintendo DS on fire!
